Golf Decoded: "How do I use a scorecard?"
If you are a beginner golfer, scorecards can seem confusing and overwhelming, you might end up just chucking it into the bottom of your bag. However, once you understand how to use the scorecard, it can actually end up being quite useful!
We have created a scorecard cheatsheet to help you get through your next game, print this off or keep a copy of it on your phone.
A few other tips to think about when using your scorecard:
- Count every swing that moves the ball
- If your ball goes out of bounds, into a penalty area (water hazard), or is lost, you may need to add penalty strokes according to the Rules of Golf.
- Each golf club has slightly different rules, make sure to check on your scorecard for anything significant
- Finally, if you are new to golf don’t get caught up on the score! Remember to take every shot as if it’s brand new and have fun.
